Tehran Summons German Ambassador Following Accusations of an Assassination Plot

Al-Taj News – The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the German ambassador to Tehran, Axel Dittmann, on Monday and conveyed an official protest to him following Germany’s detention of two people suspected of planning attacks on officials in associations supportive of Jews and Israel, and the accusation that Tehran was behind this.

The Iranian move comes in response to Germany’s decision on the same day to summon the Iranian ambassador to Berlin, Majid Nili Ahmadabadi, following accusations directed at Tehran of involvement in a plot to assassinate public figures supportive of Israel.

According to a statement by the Iranian Foreign Ministry published by the IRNA news agency, Tehran summoned the German diplomat to protest statements by German officials accusing Iran of attempting to carry out the assassination, describing the German accusations as “political and baseless.”

The Iranian statement said that directing security-related accusations against Tehran represents “a method and tactic that the Zionist entity and some Western countries have been using for a long time,” stressing that attempting to give baseless political allegations a judicial character undermines the standing of the German judicial system itself and deprives it of credibility.
